Jemutai Claps Back at Professor Hamo Over “Cheating Equals Poverty” Claims
The long-standing drama between Kenyan comedy heavyweights Professor Hamo and Jemutai has reignited with a fiery exchange of words that has social media buzzing. The latest spark came after Hamo took to various platforms to share a “spiritual” testimony, claiming that his decision to cheat on his wife with Jemutai back in 2021 was the direct cause of his financial downfall. According to Hamo, “when you mess up, the grace of God leaves you,” leading to a staggering loss of approximately KSh 14 million in brand deals and endorsements.
However, Jemutai—his baby mama and fellow comedienne—isn’t buying the “victim” narrative. In a series of blunt video responses, she urged Hamo to “man up” and stop using their past and their two children as content for likes and clicks. Jemutai argued that blaming their affair for his current poverty is a reach, stating that God doesn’t punish someone for five years straight. Instead, she offered a more practical diagnosis: Hamo is stuck in the “analogue” era of the Churchill Show and has failed to adapt to the fast-paced digital comedy scene.
Jemutai didn’t hold back on the career advice either, noting that while Hamo is a gifted stand-up comedian and musician, his lack of consistency is what’s truly hurting his pockets. She pointed out that in today’s landscape, brands look for active influencers, not those reminiscing about fame from 2020. “How many times do you post? Are you consistent?” she posed, challenging him to pivot his brand rather than jumping from podcast to podcast discussing their shared history.
The exchange highlights the ongoing struggle of “co-parenting in the limelight.” While Hamo maintains that his struggles are a spiritual consequence of straying from his marriage, Jemutai insists the focus should remain on providing for their children. She even offered to market his future shows for free, proving that while the romance is long dead, the business of being a parent is very much alive—if Hamo can finally move past the “Churchill Show” glory days.
