Jicho Pevu Spotted with Gachagua and Kalonzo Amid Speculation of Joining United Opposition
Unconfirmed reports circulating online suggest that former Nyali MP and investigative journalist Mohammed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, may have joined the United Opposition alliance after being spotted in what appeared to be a private meeting with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Photos and short video clips shared on social media on Saturday appear to show the trio in deep conversation at an undisclosed location, sparking widespread speculation about Ali’s political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
While no official statement has been issued by Ali or the United Opposition, political observers have described the meeting as “strategic” and “highly symbolic,” coming at a time when the opposition is consolidating support across key regions.

According to sources close to the alliance, discussions may have centered around youth engagement, anti-corruption messaging, and strengthening the Coast region’s representation within the opposition movement.
“Ali has been critical of how the government has handled public accountability and coastal development. His presence in that meeting speaks volumes,” one insider hinted, requesting anonymity.
Ali, who first gained national fame through his hard-hitting Jicho Pevu exposés, has remained notably silent on his political direction in recent months. His relationship with the Kenya Kwanza administration has also appeared strained, with several of his recent public remarks interpreted as veiled criticism of the government.
Neither Gachagua nor Kalonzo has commented on the alleged meeting, further fueling speculation that negotiations may still be underway.
If confirmed, Ali’s entry into the United Opposition would mark a significant boost for the coalition, especially in the Coast region, where his grassroots appeal and reputation as a truth-teller remain strong.
