Police Recover Stolen Range Rover as Dr. Victoria Mutiso Murder Probe Widens
Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso, bringing the total number of people in custody over the killing to four as detectives intensify investigations into the high-profile case.
The two suspects, Angela Mulwa and Nelson Masiga, were arrested on Saturday and are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday. Angela Mulwa is reported to be the daughter of the late co-wife, while Nelson Masiga is said to be a property broker who had been engaged to look for a buyer for the disputed land at the centre of the investigations.
The suspects were initially booked at Karen Police Station before being transferred to Mlolongo Police Station, where they remain in custody pending their court appearance.
During the operation, detectives also recovered a Range Rover believed to have been stolen from Dr. Mutiso. The vehicle was found concealed behind a house associated with one of the suspects in Karen.
According to investigators, the recovered Range Rover is one of the five vehicles that allegedly disappeared during an eviction exercise on a disputed 21-acre parcel of land in Mlolongo, which is estimated to be worth more than KSh2 billion.
Detectives say the vehicle had been partially vandalized, with signs indicating that attempts had been made to disable or remove its tracking devices.
Police are also searching for another vehicle, a Toyota Prado, which reportedly went missing after the eviction and is believed to have been at the scene when Dr. Mutiso was fatally shot.
The investigation is being led by homicide detectives and forensic experts from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who continue to analyze forensic evidence, witness statements, and other leads in a bid to identify and arrest more suspects.
Dr. Victoria Mutiso was shot dead at around 9 a.m. near the junction of Mbagathi Link Road and Mawenzi Road in what investigators believe was a targeted attack.
The murder has also drawn attention to a long-running legal dispute over the ownership of the Mlolongo property. Investigators say the main suspect, Rose Mbidha, had reportedly obtained a court order to evict occupants from the land after securing a prospective buyer.
Court records further indicate that Dr. Mutiso’s former husband had separately filed a case seeking a share of the alleged matrimonial property, a dispute that remains before the courts.
Police also allege that several vehicles and important documents disappeared during the eviction exercise, with investigators examining whether the incidents are connected to the fatal shooting.
Detectives say investigations are ongoing and have not ruled out further arrests as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding Dr. Victoria Mutiso’s murder.
