Kawangware Murder: Three Arrested After Edwin Nyariki Dies Following Club Assault

A family in Kawangware, Nairobi, is mourning the tragic death of Edwin Nyariki, a 26-year-old father of two who allegedly died after being brutally assaulted by employees at a local entertainment joint following a dispute over an unpaid KSh1,000 bill.

As relatives prepare to bury him in Kisii, they are demanding justice, insisting that those responsible for his death be held fully accountable.

According to the family, Edwin had gone to the club to watch a World Cup match when an argument reportedly broke out between him and members of staff over an unsettled bill.

What began as a disagreement quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

Edwin’s brother, who accompanied journalists to the establishment, pointed out the location where the fatal assault allegedly occurred, saying the young father was beaten unconscious before being thrown out of the club and left outside.

The family further alleges that during the attack, Edwin also lost his mobile phone and jacket.

A postmortem examination has since established that Edwin died from excessive internal bleeding. The autopsy also revealed multiple serious injuries, including broken limbs and fractures to his hands, confirming the severity of the assault.

Edwin’s grieving father described him as a hardworking young man and devoted father of two whose life was cut short under tragic circumstances.

The management of the club has confirmed that three of its employees have been arrested in connection with the incident. The suspects include a bouncer, a waiter, and a cleaner.

The club manager, Thomas Mololo, acknowledged that the three employees are in police custody as investigations continue.

Detectives from Dagoretti are treating the incident as a murder case and are working to establish the sequence of events that led to Edwin’s death.

The three suspects have already been arraigned in court and remain in custody pending the completion of investigations.

What was meant to be an ordinary evening of watching football has now become a heartbreaking loss for Edwin’s family, who say no family should lose a loved one over a disagreement involving such a small amount of money.

As investigations continue, relatives hope the criminal justice system will ensure accountability for those found responsible for the fatal assault.
