M-Pesa Agent Found Murdered in Naivasha Was Raped and Strangled – Postmortem Reveals

Police in Naivasha are investigating a brutal murder after a postmortem revealed that a 31-year-old M-Pesa agent, identified as Jane Wanjiru, whose body was found dumped near Delamere along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway, was raped before being strangled to death.

The victim’s body was discovered on Monday morning by passersby near the popular Delamere stretch. Her remains were taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem conducted by government pathologists confirmed sexual assault and strangulation as the cause of death.

Speaking to the press, Naivasha Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Isaac Kiama said investigators are following up on the case following the identification of the cause of the murder.

“The postmortem has established that the victim was murdered. She was sexually assaulted and later strangled. We are now tracing her last movements as part of our investigations,” Kiama said.

The DCIO confirmed that police have already identified several persons of interest and are pursuing crucial leads. He added that detectives are analyzig mobile phone records linked to the victim.

“We are closing in on the suspects, and it is only a matter of time before we catch up with them,” he added.

Residents of Naivasha have expressed shock and outrage over the killing, calling for swift justice and better security measures renewing calls for enhanced police patrols and the installation of street surveillance cameras along major roads and trading centers. The body of the deceased remains at Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.
