Tears Behind the Smile: Willis Raburu’s Heartbreaking Story of Loss and Healing
Media personality Willis Raburu has bared his soul in an emotional interview, revealing the deepest pain of his life — the loss of his daughter Adana.
Speaking to Alex Mwakideu on October 21, 2025, the former TV host recounted the heartbreaking moment in December 2019 when his baby was stillborn. “That was the lowest moment in my life,” Raburu said tearfully. “I held her and called her name, but there was no sound. Nothing can ever compare to that pain.”
The memory still haunts him. He confessed that simple things — like passing by a supermarket fridge — take him back to the cold room where his daughter’s body was kept. “Even now, nikitembea supermarket, nikiona fridge, I freeze,” he said.
Behind his famous smile on Citizen TV’s 10/10 show, Raburu was battling silent grief. “I’d park my car, cry, then go on stage. After the show, I’d cry again and drink to forget,” he admitted.
At his darkest point, the pain became unbearable — he even contemplated ending his life. “I thought the only way to see my daughter again was to join her,” he revealed.
Raburu credits therapy and support from friends for saving him from the brink. He now encourages others to seek help when struggling. “Grief doesn’t go away,” he said. “You just learn how to live with it.”
