Gor Mahia Topple Champions Kenya Police to Claim Top Spot!

Gor Mahia FC—known affectionately as K’Ogalo—delivered a statement performance on Sunday, securing a dominant 2-0 victory against defending champions Kenya Police FC at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The win was clinical and decisive, vaulting Gor Mahia to the top of the SportPesa National Premier League (NPFL) table with a formidable 16 points from seven matches.

K’Ogalo wasted no time asserting their dominance. The opening goal came just three minutes into the game when Felix Oluoch met a perfectly weighted cross from Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw and slotted it home.

The lead was doubled on the 30th minute mark by Shariff Musa, whose exceptional play throughout the match earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match award.

While Kenya Police FC, currently second with 13 points, mounted pressure in the second half, Gor Mahia’s solid defense stood firm, weathering every attempt to break their clean sheet. Their resilience ensured that the early two-goal cushion was more than enough to claim all three points.

The match carried an emotional undercurrent as the Kenya Police band delivered a thoughtful pre-match tribute to Gor Mahia’s late patron, adding a poignant dimension to the intense football rivalry.

The NPFL now heads into an international break, but not before Gor Mahia sends a clear message to the league: they are the team to beat this season!
