Ruto Admits Ksh40K Sliced Off His Salary for New Health Scheme – MPs Lose Ksh26K Each as Kenyans Question If Poor Will Truly Benefit

President William Ruto has lifted the lid on just how much he’s paying into the controversial Social Health Authority (SHA) — a whopping Ksh40,000 from his monthly salary.

Speaking at State House, Ruto said MPs are losing Ksh26,000 a month, while the lowest earners cough up just Ksh300. He insisted the rich will pay more so the poor can get treated free, boasting that 2.2 million Kenyans are already on board.

The flashy new scheme promises kidney transplants, cancer care, and even accident surgeries at top-tier hospitals, with boda boda riders among those now covered. “Leo ukitoka hapa, uko na bima ya afya unaweza kwenda hospitali yoyote Kenya,” Ruto declared.

But not everyone is buying it. Skeptics online blasted the program as another flashy pledge that may never deliver, recalling past promises like free calls that fizzled out.
