Babu Owino Drops Bombshell: “Leaders Don’t Fight Cartels — They Become Cartels!”

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has sensationally claimed that Nairobi’s so-called “cartel problem” is nothing more than a cover-up for leaders who secretly join the very cartels they pretend to fight.

In a hard-hitting statement, Babu tore into Nairobi politicians who hide behind excuses instead of delivering real change.

“People always say ati kuna cartels, that cartels watakuweza. Let me ask you—when you’ve been elected by the majority of Nairobians, you already have power, resources, and security. So what is a cartel?!” Babu fired.

The outspoken legislator didn’t stop there. He accused elected leaders of betraying the people by switching sides immediately after taking office:

“Those leaders, once elected, they become part of the cartel,” he thundered.

Nairobi cartels have long been blamed for choking everything from hospitals and water to matatu routes. But Babu insists it’s not the cartels winning—it’s leaders selling out the very citizens who put them in power.

🔥 His remarks have set tongues wagging, with many Kenyans asking: Is the city truly under cartel control—or is the rot sitting inside the political offices themselves?
