Justice for Jackline: Three Suspects Nabbed in Brutal Kirinyaga Murder Case

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kirinyaga East has delivered a major breakthrough in the horrifying murder of Jackline Waruguru Kathuri. Detectives have arrested three men, ending a week-long manhunt after Jackline’s brutally mutilated body was discovered in Ninga-ini village on November 22, 2025.

The investigation began following a distress call to Kiamutugu Police Station. Responding officers found Jackline’s lifeless body with signs of extreme violence: severe burn wounds, visible head injuries, and chillingly, a missing right upper arm and breast. The body was transported to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for preservation and autopsy, confirming the severity of the attack. Preliminary DCI findings indicate that Jackline, who had been missing since November 16, 2025, was gang-raped, brutally attacked, and ultimately dragged to a nearby thicket where she was left for dead.

Driven by a determination to secure justice, detectives leveraged forensic leads to quickly zero in on the main suspect, Collins Muchira Ngege. Following his arrest and intense interrogation, Ngege confessed and cooperated, guiding officers to his two alleged accomplices: John Brian Kimotho Kamau and Stephen Muchiri Karani.

The police have officially named and arrested all three suspects, who are now in custody undergoing processing. This marks a critical step towards closure for Jackline’s family and the distressed community of Ninga-ini village. The arrests underscore the DCI’s commitment to prioritizing investigations into crimes of extreme violence against women.

The three suspects are now awaiting arraignment, where they are expected to face grave charges related to the brutal murder, gang-rape, and public disorder. Authorities have assured the public that the probe will remain thorough, ensuring all responsible individuals are held fully accountable under the law.
