Tala Makes Prestigious Forbes Fintech 50 for the 10th Year
In a massive win for financial inclusion, global fintech pioneer Tala has once again been named to the prestigious Forbes Fintech 50 for 2026. This marks the company’s 10th appearance on the list, a rare feat that solidifies its status as a “hall of famer” in the rapidly evolving digital finance world. In a year where many startups have struggled to stay afloat, Tala has been recognized for its relentless innovation and its ability to turn “alternative data” into life-changing credit for the global majority.
Tala isn’t just winning awards; it’s moving serious money. As of early 2026, the company has officially disbursed over $7 billion (approx. KSh 900 billion) in credit to more than 12 million customers across three continents. With its core markets in Kenya, the Philippines, and Mexico, Tala has proven that its business model—using mobile behavioral data to score those without traditional bank accounts—is not just sustainable, but incredibly scalable.
“Serving the financially excluded is not charity; it’s a business model,” noted industry analysts after the Forbes announcement.
The recognition doesn’t stop with the company. Tala’s Founder and CEO, Shivani Siroya, was also recently named among America’s 250 Greatest Innovators. Her journey from a UN analyst to a fintech mogul has been driven by a single mission: fixing the “design flaw” of financial exclusion. Under her leadership, Tala has expanded its horizons, launching in India and Latin America in 2025, with further expansion plans into Vietnam and the Dominican Republic slated for the rest of 2026.
While it started as a micro-lending app, the Tala of 2026 is a full-service financial platform. The company recently launched on-chain lending and is increasingly integrating AI-driven underwriting to personalizing loans more than ever before. For Kenyan borrowers, who have seen the digital lending space become increasingly crowded and regulated, Tala remains a household name, known for its transparency and its role as a licensed digital credit provider under the Central Bank of Kenya.
