Fans Raise KSh 221K for Sammy Kioko’s Ailing Sister Amid KSh 19M Government Debt Crisis
Popular comedian Sammy Kioko recently gave a raw, emotional interview on The Obinna Show, revealing the immense personal toll of his ongoing financial struggle. Kioko broke down as he detailed a crippling KSh 19 million payment owed to him by the Machakos County Government for a project completed months ago.
The delayed funds have created a crisis, leaving him unable to finance new projects or afford treatment for his ailing sister and a sick business partner who requires urgent care in India.
The interview took a sharp turn when Kioko addressed allegations that he was being secretly funded by the national government to tarnish the name of Machakos County and Governor Wavinya Ndeti. Visibly emotional, Kioko passionately refuted the claims, using his personal tragedy as evidence:
“Hii national goverment ingekua inanifund, huyo msichana hangekua mgonjwa? Angekua amepelekwa hospitali… Ingenifund ningekua nimeuza gari yangu? Hii national government inasema sijui naharibia nani jina ingekua inanifund ningekua hapa napiga kelele?”
Kioko’s powerful message suggested his public complaint was born purely out of desperation and not political sabotage.
Despite the governmental stonewalling, Kioko found immediate support from his community. Host Oga Obinna quickly set up a donation till number, and the response from viewers was overwhelming.
By the end of the broadcast, fans had successfully raised over KSh 221,000 for the immediate medical treatment of Kioko’s sister. The comedian, who also mentioned his failed attempts to seek intervention from top figures like Jalang’o, publicly appreciated friends like Tom Daktari for their genuine support during his crisis.
