Marya Okoth’s Husband Delivers Vows Straight Outta Shakespeare, Just Months After YY Split

Kenyan actress Marya Okoth has kicked off a sensational new life chapter, officially marrying senior government official Jack Okula in a stunning, intensely private ceremony. The couple managed to keep both their traditional and white wedding events completely under wraps, only to stun fans with the news of their glamorous union.

Poetic Vows and a Deep Connection

While Marya looked radiant in her elegant white gown, it was her new husband, Okula, who stole the show with his deeply moving and poetic vows. Speaking before the gathered guests, Okula anchored his promises in the couple’s shared spiritual journey, beautifully referencing their joint dedication to the SDA Church.

“August 16, when you took your baptism vows, and subsequently when I got re-baptised on August 23… I could only say that this relationship has literally brought me to my knees,” Okula declared.

He painted their relationship as a blessing born out of struggle, promising to build a functional, God-centred home. In a truly romantic gesture, Okula even quoted Shakespeare’s King John to describe their perfect match:

“He is the half part of a blessed man, left to be finished by such as she; and she a fair divided excellence, whose fullness of perfection lies in him.”

The Ex-Factor: Moving On Fast

This fairytale union comes less than a year after Marya’s very public separation from comedian YY, adding a dramatic layer to the new couple’s story.

In the months leading up to the wedding, Marya opened up about navigating fame and her personal transformation following the split. She spoke candidly in September 2024 about the double-edged sword of her public career: “Social media has completely changed my life… With fame, you have to live a certain way because people are always watching.”

Meanwhile, just two months after their separation, YY shared his philosophy on moving past a long-term relationship quickly, revealing in an October 2024 interview that he believes in decisive action.

“If you give yourself more than six months after a long-term relationship ends, you will never move on… Relationships are a risk. I’m doing this for me.”

Despite the swift rebound for Marya, YY insisted that their relationship was deep and respectful, clarifying, “I don’t want people disrespecting what Marya and I had by calling it a come-we-stay marriage. It was not.”

Congratulations to Marya and Jack as they navigate their beautiful new beginning away from the spotlight!
