WATCH: Holy Smoke! Pastor Kanyari Turns Church Into Kuku Choma Joint — Live During Service!

Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari has lit social media on fire once again—this time not with “seeds” and miracles—but with smoky, sizzling kuku choma inside his church!

A viral video doing rounds online shows worship turning into a grill fest during Kanyari’s Sunday service. In the eyebrow-raising clip, Kanyari is seen smiling on stage as a woman strolls into the sanctuary hawking roast chicken like it’s Uhuru Market—right in the middle of praise and worship.

Congregants are heard cheering wildly, clapping and singing as the heavenly aroma of grilled meat fills the air. The bizarre mix of worship and nyama party has left Kenyans asking: Is this a church or a roadside choma base?

Reactions online came in thick and fast. Some netizens couldn’t stop laughing, calling it “the most Kenyan church service ever.”

But critics were not amused.

“This is no longer worship—it’s entertainment,” wrote one Twitter user.
“What next? Sacrament with ugali?” another joked.

Supporters, however, defended Kanyari, saying fellowship and joy don’t have to be boring.

The incident has now reignited debate over the direction of modern worship in Kenya, with many wondering just how far some churches will go to attract crowds and content.

As for Pastor Kanyari? He hasn’t responded yet—but social media already baptized the moment with a new slogan:
“Come for prayers, stay for the kuku!”
