Police Probe Mysterious 14th Floor Fall in Kilimani Area
A domestic dispute at a short-term rental property on Kindaruma Road, Nairobi, ended in tragedy early Sunday morning when a man fell 14 floors to his death. Police have arrested the woman who was with him on a charge of murder.
The couple had checked into the rental unit on November 28, and a friend joined them for drinks that continued late into the morning hours of Sunday. After the friend departed, an argument reportedly began between the couple, quickly escalating into a physical altercation.
The deceased, identified as Owino, was found on a parked car below the building, having sustained fatal injuries, including broken legs. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman claims the argument began after she told Owino to leave the premises, alleging he assaulted her during the confrontation. However, police have developed an opposing theory, alleging that the woman pushed him over the balcony railing. Inside the apartment, officers discovered evidence of a prolonged social gathering, seizing alcohol bottles and drugs.
Following the initial discovery and evidence collection, police immediately arrested the woman as the prime suspect in the murder case. Authorities are now urgently seeking to locate and question the third man who was with the couple earlier that evening, believing he may hold key information about the night’s events.
The tragic incident has thrust the spotlight onto the safety and security protocols surrounding short-term high-rise rental properties in Nairobi. Concerns are mounting over the potential lack of adequate safety measures and oversight in these frequently rented units.
